Say Hello to Melissa Watson, Director of Accounts at B2 Collaborative

Melissa Watson, B2 Collaborative Director of Accounts

Meet Melissa, our new Director of Accounts, a marketing powerhouse with over 15 years of experience in the field and more than 25 years rooted in hospitality. She’s spent her career shaping brands, building teams, and creating campaigns that connect, all while keeping a pulse on what makes people choose one destination over another. Here’s a closer look at what makes her tick and how she got started in the industry.

The Mindset of a Marketing and Hospitality Expert

Melissa’s path into hospitality started early in the food and beverage world, but it was a heightened awareness of how tourism impacts entire communities that really drew her in.

“Living in a vacation town, I've always been privy to the seasonality of guests and how they affect our ecosystem. But when the BP oil spill hit our market in 2010, it showed me how fragile our ecosystem is. Working at a local restaurant, I saw firsthand how a drop in tourism led to business losses and layoffs—not just in beachside spots. That moment made me realize how deeply Northwest Florida’s economy depends on hospitality,” says Watson.

This passion for hospitality and its role in local communities continues to influence her work today. At the core of it all is this belief:

“Being part of a family or a group of people making memories is such an honor and a huge responsibility. Guests plan and save for these moments, sometimes for years. Helping them choose an organization I am associated with, one that I helped shape the story and appeal, brings a great sense of accomplishment and pride,” says Watson.

Why Joining B2 Collaborative Was a Perfect Fit

Having worked earlier in her vacation rental career with Sarah Bailey, B2 Collaborative Founder and CEO, and Sarah Ralph, B2 Collaborative Partner and COO, Watson says, “the experience helped shape the way I view the industry and my understanding of the vacation rental world.” As she puts it, “They are the best in the business and joining forces with them felt like a no-brainer.”

The opportunity to be part of a growing team, learn new markets, and help take things to the next level was one she couldn’t pass up.

Driving Vacation Rental Marketing Success at B2 Collaborative

What we’re most excited about? Melissa brings an incredibly powerful mix of strategy and creativity, backed by strong brand instincts and revenue-focused vacation rental marketing expertise. She’s known for blending data with intuition and for leading with professionalism, collaboration, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor that keeps things grounded.

What she’s most excited about? “So many things! Working with the team, working with 'the Sarah's’ again, returning to the best form of vacation rental marketing. Having clients across the United States is also super exciting. I’m eager to learn new markets and apply what I know to help make an impact,” says Watson.

Hobbies, Travel, and Life in Northwest Florida

Outside of work, Melissa leans into creativity a little differently. She’s currently deep in home improvement DIY projects, getting her yard looking like a sanctuary, and trying new restaurants with her husband, a former chef (Thai food and fresh-off-the-boat seafood are her faves). She loves an early sunrise and considers Barbados one of her favorite beach destinations, although she’ll tell you Northwest Florida can definitely hold its own.

Having lived all over the U.S., Melissa brings a broad perspective and a deep appreciation for different places and experiences. She’s also a proud Buffalo Bills fan and a big believer in making the most of where you are. She’s also all about spending time with her family, including her two dogs, Titan and Kona, and her betta fish, Terrance.

If you ask her for local insight, she’ll tell you May and late October are some of the best times to visit Northwest Florida, and places like Crab Island in Destin and 30A, especially the coastal dune lakes and architecture between the little beach towns, are absolute musts.

Designing the Perfect Vacation Rental, According to Melissa

And if she could design the perfect vacation rental? “I like to think of FUN and amenities. Creating a space where visitors turn into returning visitors and little brand ambassadors is important. I would design for the landscape, but not overly so. In a beach town, I would create wonderful spaces curated for relaxation, including a great porch or balcony with comfortable furniture, and a small library to encourage disconnecting with a good book. In a family destination, I would incorporate fun, colorful spaces for kids, maybe a mural for an Instagrammable moment, and/or a game room with classic video and board games. I think it's all about making someone feel like they have stepped into vacation, but not so overwhelming that it feels forced or out of place,” says Watson.

The B2 Collaborative team is thrilled to welcome Melissa to the family! She’s already making a significant impact with one meaningful contribution after another. We couldn’t be happier to have her on board.
